God is Love
Scripture teaches us that God is love (1 Jn. 4: 8, 16). Therefore, it’s important that we keep in mind the truth that “ God is love”.
We are to interpret the circumstances in life through the lens of this truth. Let’s pay attention to the fact that the verse does not simply say that God is loving, though this statement is also true. In fact, it’s more than this, for God’s very essence is love, and we can rightfully see that other characteristics of God allow and help us understand God as love. For example, God is merciful because He is love; God is gracious because He is love; God is slow to anger, faithful , and so on, because He is love.
God calls us to seek to understand the truth that He is love, and also to learn to constantly interpret the events in life (good or bad) , to think through life from the perspective of the unfailing truth that God is love. The truth that God is love is foundational and should govern a mind and heart that is renewed in Christ. The following truths are to be meditated upon regularly: “ God is love “and “love is from God” ( He is the origin of love - 1 Jn. 4:7), and God so loved the world that He gave His Only Son ( Jn.3:16), and we know love by this: Christ laid down His life for us ( 1 Jn. 3:16).
I pray that each person who reads this post would, by God’s marvelous grace, learn to view and interpret God’s actions and/or seemingly inactions through the lens of the truth that God is love, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen
